On 1 March 2026, the school was struck by missiles during an air strike amid an escalating regional conflict. Liana was among the children killed in the attack, which devastated the school community and led to widespread mourning.

Liana Mohammadi was a young student from Minab, a coastal city in southern Iran. At the age of seven, she was in the early years of primary school and attended Shajareh Tayyebeh Primary School.
