Less-than-lethal force

Leroy Hughes died after being tasered by police. Police were called to investigate a report of a man armed with a gun. Nearby St. Augustine School was placed on lockdown. When police arrived at the scene, they were confronted by Hughes. Police said he refused to comply with officers' orders and began to thrash about. Officers tackled Hughes, who fought while on the ground, and he was tasered before being handcuffed. A loaded 9mm pistol was recovered from him. Hughes became unresponsive, and paramedics took him to the hospital, where he later died.
