Larry Eugene Jackson Jr. reportedly tried to enter a bank that had just been robbed. A police detective at the scene asked Jackson for his ID and Jackson took off running. The officer commandeered a private car and caught up to Jackson. The officer pursued Jackson on foot. When he got close, the officer said he accidentally discharged his weapon, hitting Jackson in the neck and killing him. The officer was cleared of all criminal charges. Jackson's children received a $1.25 million settlement.
