Biography

Lamia’ Hasan Mohammad Attar, 27, was a resident of Beit Lahia in the Gaza Strip. On May 14, 2021, she and her three children—Islam (8), Amira (7), and Mohammed “Zain al-Dein” (8 months)—were killed when Israeli warplanes struck an agricultural area near their home. Their house, a three-story building in Beit Lahia, was completely destroyed in the attack. Lamia’ and her children were among dozens of Palestinians killed in northern Gaza on that day, as part of a broader military operation in which Israel launched 450 missiles on 150 targets over 40 minutes. The attack resulted in widespread destruction of homes, civilian facilities, and vital infrastructure, displacing thousands of residents and causing significant casualties, including women, children, and the elderly.

Lamia’ Hasan Mohammad Attar lived in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip, and was a mother of three. On May 14, 2021, she and her children were killed by an Israeli missile strike targeting agricultural land near her family’s home. The missile attack completely destroyed the three-story house belonging to Mahmoud Hashem al-‘Attar’s sons, where Lamia’ and her children were staying. This strike was part of a larger Israeli military operation on the same day, which involved 160 warplanes, artillery, and gunboats attacking 150 targets across Gaza in just 40 minutes. The airstrikes caused massive civilian casualties, including the deaths of 39 Palestinians, among them 13 women and 14 children, as well as injuries to 224 others. The destruction forced thousands of residents to seek refuge in UNRWA schools due to fear of ongoing airstrikes and a potential ground offensive. Lamia’ and her children were among the 44 Palestinians killed in Gaza on May 14, 2021.
