Laith Salah Abu Srour was a 24-year-old Palestinian from Jenin, a city in the northern part of the occupied West Bank. He was among three young Palestinians assassinated by undercover Israeli forces on June 17, 2022. Laith lost his life when Israeli soldiers ambushed a vehicle he was traveling in and opened fire with dozens of live rounds, killing him and two others.

Laith Salah Abu Srour, 24, was a resident of Jenin, a city that has long symbolized Palestinian resilience and defiance under occupation. Known among his peers for his quiet strength and commitment to his community, Laith was one of three young men targeted and killed by undercover Israeli forces on the dawn of June 17, 2022. That morning, Israeli soldiers disguised in civilian clothes infiltrated the Eastern Neighborhood of Jenin and ambushed a car carrying Laith and two of his companions—Bara’ Kamal Lahlouh and Yousef Nasser Salah, both 23 years old.

Without warning, the Israeli forces unleashed a hail of gunfire on the vehicle, firing dozens of live rounds in a clear act of extrajudicial execution. Eyewitnesses reported that the soldiers also opened fire on nearby areas, injuring nine other Palestinians, one critically. Laith and his friends died instantly inside the riddled vehicle. Their deaths sent shockwaves throughout Jenin, a community already reeling from frequent incursions, arrests, and killings
