Kwame Jones was one of three people in a car going south in the northbound lanes on Moncrief Road around 9:20 p.m. The police officer turned his cruiser around and attempted to stop the car, but the driver refused to stop and crashed into another car and then into a pedestrian bridge. As the officer approached the other, a passenger brandished a gun. The officer fired and killed Jones, who was unarmed.
