Fairfield police responded to a residence regarding a complaint of gunshots. When officers arrived, they heard gunshots coming from within the residence. They were fired upon by a person at the residence, but no one was struck, and they did not return fire, police said. At approximately 4 a.m., police entered the residence and found the suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
