Lunsford drove his other to the residence of Lieutenant Eric Hillman, who had an affair with his wife. Hillman identified himself and pointed a gun at Lunsford. According to Hillman, Lunsford moved for his glove box. Hillman fatally shot him. There were no weapons in Lunsford's car or on his person. A notebook found next to Lunsford's body contained records of Hillman's activities.Although it went to trial, Hillman was found not guilty.
