According to law enforcement, Kerry Edwin Townsend was the prime suspect in the shooting of Deputy Jordan Sherrill during a traffic stop. Police found Townsend hiding in a vacant house. Townsend reportedly pointed a handgun at police, who shot and killed him. Sherrill survived the shooting.
