Tuscaloosa police officers used a Taser to subdue Kendrell Antron Watkins when he ran naked into the intersection of 15th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. After deploying the Taser, the officers engaged in a struggle on the ground for around 45 seconds. Watkins was conscious when he arrived at the hospital but died about 90 minutes later.
