Deadly force

Karina Sandoval-Jiminez, 18, was in the backseat of a car fleeing a robbery. The robbers entered a restaurant and demanded cash, cell phones and wallets. They pistol-whipped the workers. A deputy arrived at the restaurant and saw two masked men enter a car parked south of the scene. As the deputy pursued them, the driver drove the car in his general direction. Two officers fired into the car, killing Sandoval-Jiminez. Police alleged vehicular assault.
