Patrol Officer Wollam was killed when his cruiser was struck head-on by a other driven by Robert M. Esper. The other was being pursued by law enforcement officers for several traffic violations. While in pursuit, the other crossed the median into opposing traffic and struck Officer Wollam's cruiser. Officer Wollam was killed instantly. The driver and two passengers were also killed in this accident.
