Deadly force
Torres, armed with a .38 caliber revolver, held the Martinez family hostage after begging them for money. Officers responded. Torres had already shot Anel Martinez, 16, and Alyson Martinez, six, in the backyard. Officers jumped the fence to help the girls. Negotiators contacted Torres. Torres stepped out onto his front porch and pointed the revolver at officers. Officers shot at Torres six times, striking him twice and killing him. Anel and Alyson later died.
