Deadly force

Troopers received a call around 9 a.m. about a domestic disturbance. Officers discovered that Joshua Ebinger was violating a protection order a woman had placed against him. Two Ripley County deputies, a Indiana State Police trooper and a Versailles police officer responded to the residence. Officers said the woman exited the home and was moved to a safe location. Ebinger reportedly exited the residence, holding a handgun. Officers commanded Ebinger to drop the handgun. He allegedly pointed the weapon at the officers. The trooper and one of the deputies shot and killed Ebinger.
