A hospital security guard called police around 4:30 a.m. to report a suspicious other at Smith County Hospital. Two Carthage Police Department officers responded and approached the other. The driver, Joseph Robbins, allegedly drove in the general direction of one of the officers. One of the officers shot and killed Robbins.
