Suicide
Joseph E. Kocanda reportedly killed himself after leading police on a chase through Saunders County. According to police, Kocanda drove west out of Ashland when an officer attempted to stop him for speeding at about 10:10 p.m. Another Ashland officer and a SCSO deputy officer later joined the pursuit. The officers said they observed Kocanda raise a gun to his head and fire. His other veered off the road, coming to a stop about 200 feet west of the Saunders-Lancaster County line.
