Police said the two teens were in a stolen 1994 Chevrolet when officers tried to stop the car. The teens instead took off. Police backed off the chase when the car reached a high speed, they said, but the driver lost control and ran off the right side of eastbound International Gateway. The car struck a tree, and both teens were thrown from the car. One, Jackson, was killed.
