Officers responding to reports of a man causing a disturbance encountered Jose Alfredo Castro-Gutierrez armed with a three-foot length of cheap curtain rod. As Castro-Gutierrez charged out of the house, one officer tased him, one officer shot him with a beanbag gun and a third officer shot and killed Castro-Gutierrez. A lawyer for Castro-Gutierrez's wife said her husband suffered from schizophrenia and that police had a miscommunication when they tased, beanbagged and shot him at the same time.
