Jonathon Cosmo D'Eredita Jr. was approached by Syracuse police shortly after 8 p.m. in front of a Walmart. They were looking for him there, based on a tip, regarding an older theft investigation. After a brief police chase in the parking lot, D'Eredita drove his SUV into a tree. When police caught up to him, he had already fatally shot himself in the head.
