Deputies responded to Southside Road area west of Missoula at approximately 5:30 p.m. for a report of a disturbance involving a man swinging a machete and making threats. Deputies reportedly tried to communicate with Johnny Lee Perry. After less-lethal weapons were used ineffectively to incapacitate Perry, deputies shot and killed him.
