An officer spotted Rodgers, a suspect in a grocery-store robbery in Roseville, driving into a Sears parking lot just north of downtown St. Paul. Rodgers exited his other carrying a knife, according to police. The officer repeatedly told him to stop, but Rodgers advanced on the officer, who shot him several times in the chest. Rodgers was pronounced dead at the hospital.
