At 9:46 a.m., Fort Collins Police received a call of a suspicious other. The caller reportedly saw firearms inside the other. Officers arrived in the area and contacted the occupant of the other. He fled in the other. Officers reportedly didn't pursue him. The crash happened a moment later. John "Rick" Nees and his daughter Nicole A. Nees were killed instantly. The driver Marcos Orozco received a number of charges related to burglary and vehicular eluding.
