Suicide

Jessica Mellinger tried to flee John Snyder's home after a domestic dispute. She got into a car with Snyder's stepmother and stepbrother, but could not start the other. Snyder then came out of the house with a shotgun, shot his girlfriend while she was in the other, and dragged her into the home. Police arrived and came under gunfire. During a period of more than an hour, numerous shots were fired from the residence and at one point, one of the officers returned fire, police said. After several hours, officers were able to enter the home and found Mellinger and Snyder dead.
