John James Monahan Jr. got in an auto accident, then used an AK-style rifle to carjack another driver. Police began pursuing Monahan who eventually drove into Lake Lanier, firing at police. The car sank to the bottom with the suspect still inside. An autopsy determined Monahan fatally shot himself.
