Deadly force

Officers responding to a call of a suicidal man encountered John Francis Murphy III armed with a handgun in a local park. A woman who was also armed was with him, trying to talk him out of killing himself. Police officers ordered both subjects to disarm, but Murphy refused. When he began moving toward the woman, both officers shot and killed Murphy.
