At Rest

Deadly force
Four officers served a warrant on Acree at his home at 7:45 a.m. for missing a court date. Acree, who was mentally ill and believed he was under surveillance, refused to come outside. Officers blocked the front and back doors of his house. As Acree exited the back door with a semiautomatic pistol, he and Officer William Wright exchanged fire. Acree was fatally shot.
This record exists so that John D. Acree, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
