A 1999 Chrysler Sebring driven by John C. Perkins, 44, of Maryville, crossed the centerline and hit 1999 Ford Taurus driven by Amelia Keown, 16. Officials said a trooper clocked Perkins going 73 miles per hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone. The trooper was trying to turn around and pursue Perkins when the Chrysler hit Keown's car, killing her. Perkins died a short time later.
