Kentucky State Police reportedly were serving warrants to multiple homes when two men fired at them. The two men were in tents on the side of the mountain when they fired at police. Police shot and killed Charles Garland, 30. Joey Middleton, 41, escaped and was the subject of a long manhunt in the area. He was found the next day by police, another shootout occurred, and Middleton was shot and killed by police.
