Less-than-lethal force
Deputies James R. Cavitt, Gregory Young, Demonte Gehring and Daniel Thomas responded to a call requesting medical attention for Casey, schizophrenic. The deputies shot Casey repeatedly with stun guns. They then hogtied him and cocked back his head, breaking his neck. Casey died. His mother was awarded $3 million by a Harris County jury.
