Joan Reese died shortly after reportedly becoming unconscious and falling at the Freeport Police Department. Police arrested Reese shortly after 7 a.m. on an outstanding warrant for obstructing a court order and learned she had a heart condition. According to police, Reese became unconscious while she "was being processed through the booking procedure." She was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly before 9 a.m. An autopsy indicating a cause of Reese's was coronary heart disease, according to the coroner's office.
