Acevedo and another man attempted to flee from police in a stolen 1995 white Nissan Maxima, a chase that involved multiple jurisdictions and a helicopter. The other man was apprehended after he appealed, yelling for help for Acevedo, who had tried to get away in a lake. His body was recovered, drowned.
