Williams was beaten to death while being booked into the county jail. He died two days later. His horrific brain injuries, an attempted cover-up, and evidence of premeditation sent the responsible jailer to prison for two life terms plus another 20 years. Further the family settled a wrongful death suit with the county for $2.5 million.
