Torres fled authorities in a stolen F-350. He came to a stop in a parking lot. Trooper Christopher Michael Romo and Sergeant Patricia J. Lenoir parked and exited their patrol vehicles. They approached Torres with shotguns. Torres exited the Ford and entered the trooper's other, which still contained an AR-15. The sergeant and the trooper fatally shot at Torres.
