Investigator Luis Valladares and another deputy served a felony warrant on Hunter at a traffic stop. Hunter reached for the console of the other. Investigator Valladares shot at Hunter once, striking him fatally in the chest. The Texas Ranger Division investigated. A 9mm handgun was found in the console. Investigator Valladares had served for 10 years.
