Uniformed police officers were attempting to arrest McGeer on 3 outstanding felony warrants. He attempted to evade arrest in a other, and then drove in the general direction of three police officers. Another officer fired his handgun at the deceased, who was struck twice and died as a result of the gunshot wound.
