A Cherokee County Sheriff's deputy attempted to pull over a other for traffic violation, police said. The driver of the other fled the area, ran a red light and then drove north on Bells Ferry Road. The deputy, whose name was not released, advised dispatch by radio that he only had traffic charges against the suspect and would not be pursuing the other. The deputy turned off his emergency lights and siren and continued north on Bells Ferry Road, where he was flagged down and advised there had just been a collision. The fleeing man died at the scene.
