Deadly force

An officer shot Jeffrey D. Hodges when he allegedly ran toward the officer with a knife inside a mobile home. At about 4 p.m., four officers responded when an unidentified caller told police that an intruder was in his trailer home, then hung up. Police said they found the door open and were confronted by Hodges, who was holding a hunting knife. Hodges reportedly refused to drop the knife and advanced toward the officers. One of the officers shot Hodges twice, killing him.
