Jason Lewis was killed and his two passengers were seriously injured when a other fleeing police hit their car. Police said the chase began at 23rd Street and Hall Road in Independence when an officer observed the other speeding at around 10:30 a.m. According to police, the officer gave up the pursuit a few blocks before the fleeing driver collided with Lewis' car.
