Suicide

Officers went to the Hunterwood Apartment complex at about 4 p.m. to check a suspicious other and saw Jamie R. Chavis sleeping in the driver's seat of a car in the parking lot. Police said the doors were locked, and officers awakened Chavis by knocking on the window. According to police, Chavis pulled a handgun and shot himself in the head after the officers had asked him to roll down the window several times. Chavis died at the scene.
