Suicide
A 49-year-old man reportedly committed suicide during a brief standoff with police. Three officers responded to a report of a suicidal person at about 9:45 a.m. The officers went up a stairwell to the second floor at the rear of the building and found a man sitting on the floor beside an open door to an elevator. Police said the officers remained in the stairwell about 15 feet away and tried to talk to they man while they waited for a negotiator. After about two minutes, the man reportedly shot himself.
