Deputy Richard Sapcut shot and killed James Ernest Goforth, 35, on a dirt road after a other pursuit. A folding knife was found at the scene of the shooting. Goforth allegedly was carrying the knife while fleeing deputies on foot after the car chase ended. It was not stipulated if Goforth threatened Sapcut with the knife.
