James C. Carter was killed and his passenger was injured when their car crashed into a trash bin after fleeing police. According to police, Carter and his passenger had been involved in an earlier dispute at a downtown bar that escalated into road rage. An officer saw Carter's car aggressively tailgating another motorist at 1:15 a.m. The officer tried to stop the car, but Carter kept driving. Police said the officer stopped the pursuit prior to the crash due to high speeds.
