Biography
Jabbar Panahi-Azad was a 15-year-old child from the Qashqai (Lor) community in Chenarshahijan (Qaemieh), Fars Province. The eldest child in his family and the only brother to three younger sisters, he was described as hopeful and energetic, with a growing interest in fitness and bodybuilding. On January 9, 2026, he was fatally shot during protests, cutting short a young life marked by family responsibility and future aspirations.
Born in August 2010, Jabbar Panahi-Azad grew up in Chenarshahijan in Fars Province. His father had previously passed away, leaving Jabbar as the eldest male child in the household. He was known among friends as optimistic and motivated, recently joining a gym and proudly sharing his progress in bodybuilding.
On the evening of January 9, 2026, Jabbar was present near protesters on the road leading toward Kazerun, close to an Iran-Khodro dealership. At approximately 8:00 PM, he was struck in the head by a single round of live ammunition and died instantly. Authorities held his body for several days before release. Following his death, his family was subjected to pressure and intimidation, including attempts to force them into public statements that would alter the narrative surrounding his killing.
