Biography

Issam Ahmed Murshid Al-Hashidi was a Yemeni media worker affiliated with the 26 September and Yemen newspapers in Sana’a. Dedicated to local reporting and newsroom work, he contributed to publications closely associated with the Yemeni army and Houthi administration. On September 10, 2025, while staff were preparing their weekly newspaper edition, an Israeli airstrike struck the media complex, killing Issam along with many of his colleagues. His death became part of what journalists and rights groups described as one of the deadliest single attacks on media workers in years.

Issam Ahmed Murshid Al-Hashidi worked within a major newspaper complex in Sana’a that housed the 26 September and Yemen newspapers. These outlets, tied to the Houthi-aligned Yemeni military structure, played a central role in wartime reporting, public communication, and print journalism in northern Yemen. On the morning of September 10, 2025, Issam and dozens of his colleagues were completing preparations for the weekly newspaper issue. Without warning, multiple missiles struck the building, causing catastrophic destruction and heavy casualties. Issam was among the 31 journalists and media support workers killed instantly or fatally injured in the attack. Very little is publicly documented about his personal life, early career, or family background, but his death has been recognized internationally as part of a major press-freedom tragedy.

Family, the story I am about to share with you is horrific. According to reports from Yemen, Israeli airstrikes on two newspaper offices in Sana’a killed at least 30 journalists this past Wednesday. As the death toll continues to rise, it appears this will be the single deadliest attack against journalists in the entire known history of the world. And not ONE major news outlet has covered this. It’s absolutely appalling that this isn’t headline news around the world. Frankly I’m embarrassed that it even has to be telling you these facts. It should be everywhere. But that’s why this platform exists - to tell the stories and document the injustice that simply isn’t being covered anywhere else.
