Their life

Ibrahim al-Thaher, 25, was a talented Palestinian photojournalist and cameraman for Al Jazeera who dedicated his life to documenting the realities of Gaza. Born in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, he began his career as a graphic designer before turning to journalism in 2018 during the Great March of Return protests. His partnership with close friend and classmate, Al Jazeera reporter Anas al-Sharif, made them a well-known duo in Gaza’s media scene — al-Thaher behind the camera and al-Sharif in front of it. On 10 August 2025, while working together in a media tent near Shifa Hospital, Ibrahim was killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted his friend. Remembered for his courage, loyalty, and selflessness, he also volunteered as a rescuer, dedicating his life to helping others both in and out of his work.

He worked for several local outlets, including Al Shamal Online, where his photographs captured both the resilience and suffering of his people.

In time, Ibrahim joined Al Jazeera, where he reunited with his childhood friend and former classmate Anas al-Sharif. The two became inseparable, covering the war in Gaza side by side.
