At Rest

Deadly force
Mineral County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting a family disturbance involving Howard Curtis Martin, 68. While officers were searching the family home, Martin called a family member and allegedly told them he was on a ridge above the home with a high powered rifle with the officers in his crosshairs. When officers encountered Martin on the ridge, he refused to drop the rifle when ordered and aimed at the officers. He was shot and killed by a Montana Highway Patrol trooper.
This record exists so that Howard Curtis Martin, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
