Cause of Death: Shot from behind with a war bullet during Islamic Republic forces’ suppression in Arak city. Originally from Khomein district. His body was buried on Sunday 21 Dey in his birthplace Khomein under severe security conditions.

Cause of Death: Shot in the head with a bullet during protests. Was associated with a welfare center (Behzisti). Had no father or mother. Was buried in isolation and authorities threatened people not to mention his name or hold any ceremonies for him.

Security forces attempted to present him as a ‘Basiji’ and ‘government martyr’ but his mother explicitly rejected this. Aref was from a Bakhtiari family from Khuzestan, had come to Dargahan in Qeshm to work as an apprentice, and had recently opened a cafe. He was from the Qandali (Gandali) tribe near Masjed Soleyman. The shooter was a Bakhtiari Lor from Koohrang in Chaharmahal and is now the Friday prayer leader of Dargahan.
