On May 13, during one of the deadliest nights of the Israeli bombardment, Hashim was killed in an airstrike that turned homes and neighborhoods into rubble. At just 20 years old, his life ended before he could build a future of his own.

Hashim Mohammad ‘Ayed al-Zugheibi was born and raised in Gaza, where he spent his short life within the confines of a community enduring years of siege, economic isolation, and repeated wars. Despite these challenges, Hashim was known by his relatives and peers as a hopeful and determined young man who sought to support his family and live with dignity. On the night of May 13, 2021, the Israeli military carried out extensive bombardments across the Gaza Strip, striking residential neighborhoods, apartment towers, and civilian homes without warning. Entire families were killed in their houses, and dozens of civilians were buried under rubble. Hashim was among those caught in these indiscriminate attacks. He died as a direct result of Israeli airstrikes that killed 36 Palestinians that night, including children, women, and whole families.
