Hashim Mohammad ‘Ayed al-Zugheibi was a 20-year-old young man from Gaza. He grew up amid the hardships of life under blockade, carrying with him the dreams and struggles of many young Palestinians in the besieged enclave. Like countless others of his generation, his life was marked by both resilience and uncertainty, with aspirations cut short by the devastating violence of May 2021. On May 13, during one of the deadliest nights of the Israeli bombardment, Hashim was killed in an airstrike that turned homes and neighborhoods into rubble. At just 20 years old, his life ended before he could build a future of his own.

Rafat Mohammad at-Tanani, 39, his pregnant wife and four young children, were in their home in Beit Hanoun town when the Israeli army bombed the area without any warning. The entire residential square was destroyed, including the family’s home. Ra’fat Tanani, 39, his pregnant wife Rawiye, 35, and their children Ismail, 6, Ameer, 5, Adham, 4, and Mohammad, 3, were all killed.
