
Hala Mohammad al-Kawlak (Age 12) was a Palestinian girl from Gaza City who tragically lost her life during an Israeli airstrike on May 16, 2021. She was among the 11 children receiving trauma counselling from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) who were killed in their homes during the escalation of hostilities between Israel and Palestinian armed groups in Gaza.

The airstrike targeted residential buildings on Al-Wahda Street in central Gaza City, collapsing several homes and resulting in numerous civilian casualties. Hala was found alongside her sisters, Rula (5) and Yara (9), and their cousin Hana (14), all of whom perished in the attack. The bombing also claimed the lives of other children and family members, including Dima and Mira Rami al-Ifranji (15 and 11) and their neighbour Dana Riad Hasan Ishkantna (9).
