Gary Hardy Jr. allegedly called 911 at 3:43 pm and said he wanted to speak to officers about threatening messages he was receiving on his telephone. An officer agreed to meet Hardy a short distance from the police station. The officer talked to Hardy in his other, and when the officer returned to his car, Hardy exited his other and approached the officer brandishing a knife. The officer shot and killed Hardy.
